Kane Williamson surpasses Virat Kohli and Don Bradman; Rachin Ravindra scores his maiden hundred.

On the opening day of the first Test match against South Africa at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Sunday, February 4, Kane Williamson went over the combined total of 29 Test hundreds held by Don Bradman and Virat Kohli.

Williamson now has the second-highest number of Test hundreds among active players. He trails only Steve Smith, who has 32 Test tonnes to his name. The world’s top Test batter is tied with former England captain Joe Root on 30 hundred.

Virat Kohli ranks third on the list, with 29 Test hundreds. Cheteshwar Pujara is next in line, with 19 Test hundreds. Since Pujara was cut from the India Test team, it seems quite improbable that he would be back anytime soon.

Kane Williamson now has four hundred in his previous seven innings. Kane Williamson is fourth on the list of Test cricket run scorers, trailing only Root, Smith, and Kohli. He has scored 8375 runs in 169 innings, at an average of 55.09. He has also scored 33 fifties in the format.

Most Test centuries among active players

  • Steve Smith-32
  • Kane Williamson-30
  • Joe Root-30
  • Virat Kohli-29
  • Cheteshwar Pujara-19

Furthermore, Rachin Ravindra made the news once more by scoring his first Test century. The 24-year-old southpaw, playing in his fourth Test match overall and his first since January 2022, made 118 runs off 211 balls without conceding a wicket.

Ravindra’s innings included 13 fours and one Sox. Williamson (112*) and Ravindra (118*) combined with 219 unbroken runs, helping New Zealand end on a strong 258/2.
