Pujara re-signed with Sussex for the 2024 season.

Cheteshwar Pujara will participate in the first seven County Championship games of the 2024 season for Sussex. Daniel Hughes will replace Pujara after the seventh game and will be available from the start of the T20 Vitality Blast to the end of the season, including the remaining County fixtures.

Sussex Head Coach Paul Farbrace has decided not to play Pujara in the 2024 Domestic One Day Cup. Jayden Seales and Nathan McAndrew have been signed as overseas bowlers for the upcoming season in 2024. Pujara has scored 1863 runs at 64.24 in 18 County Championship matches for Sussex, including three fifties and eight hundreds.
“I have enjoyed my time at Hove the last couple of seasons and couldn’t be more delighted to be back again with the Sussex family.” said Pujara, delighted to be back in the county. “I am looking forward to joining the team and contributing to its success.”
“I am delighted that Cheteshwar is returning to Hove again for the first two months of the season.” said Sussex Head Coach, Paul Farbrace, welcoming Pujara back to the team. “He is not just a high-quality player but is also a high-quality person. His experience and calmness in matches is a fantastic asset for our team.”
Daniel Hughes, on the other hand, has smashed the door in the Australian domestic arena, making his way into the New South Wales Blues lineup via sheer force of run. Hughes averages 36.90 in first-class cricket, with a high score of 178. Hughes has 26 half-centuries and eight centuries in 137 innings. Hughes was the Marsh One-Day Cup Player of the Season for the New South Wales Blues in 2017-18 and 2019-20, and he received two Steve Waugh awards.
