Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has announced that they would host India for a five-match T20I series in July. All of the matches will take place in Harare and will begin less than a week after the T20 World Cup concludes.
The Harare Sports Club will host the matches on July 6, 7, 10, 13, and 14.
“The confirmation of this tour comes after productive discussions between ZC and the BCCI, with the primary objective of fortifying bilateral ties and fostering a spirit of collaboration between the two cricketing boards,” the Cricket Board of India said in a statement.
ZC Chairman Mr Tavengwa Mukuhlani stated, “We are thrilled to be hosting India for a T20I series in July, which will be our biggest international attraction at home this year.”
“The game of cricket has always benefited much from India’s influence and passion for the sport, and I would like to express my gratitude to the BCCI for agreeing to travel to Zimbabwe again.
“The significance and magnitude of this tour cannot be over-emphasized, especially as it is coming at a time we are working round the clock to re-establish ourselves as a force to reckon with at the highest level of the game.”
Mr Jay Shah, BCCI Honorary Secretary, stated: “The BCCI has always been a pioneer in contributing to the worldwide cricketing community. We recognize that Zimbabwe is going through a rebuilding process, and Zimbabwe Cricket requires our assistance at this time.
“Our steadfast commitment to traveling and helping fellow member boards is consistent with our goal of bringing about a good change in the cricketing scene. The BCCI will try to strengthen bilateral cricket and increase its commercial viability. “Our pledge to support Zimbabwe Cricket reflects a shared vision for the growth and prosperity of cricket on the international stage.”
